Over the past year, Special Collections and Archives (SC&A) within University Libraries received multiple collections, both large and small, that have built on its already impressive offerings.

Among them are

  • The Jean-Louis Barrault Photograph Collection, featuring 411 black-and-white photographs documenting the career of Barrault and his wife, Madeleine Renaud, in the French theater between 1947 and 1979. A finding aid is available online.

The collection was donated by Suzanne Donnelly Jenkins and Paul Jenkins.

  • The Leonard H. Clark Military History Collection contains documents, photographs and memorabilia related to Major Clark’s service in the U.S. Air Force from 1938 to 1968 and 2003. The collection contains military records, Japanese souvenirs from World War II and aerial photographs of military operations in the Philippines. Clark participated in 73 combat missions against Japanese forces in the Pacific Theater. A finding aid is available online.

The collection was donated by Susan Lanson on behalf of Anna Mae Clark, Robin Clark and Barbara Clark Gregg.

  • Former Rep. Tom Davis donated papers from his 14-year career in Congress. The collection contains issue files, legislative files, committee hearing files, thank-you letters and constituent mail, in addition to videotapes, photos and other memorabilia. The collection will be open to researchers in six years.
  • The papers of Roy Rosenzweig, Mason professor of history who died in 2007, have been added to the SC&A. Founder of the Center of History and New Media at Mason, Rosenzweig was a prolific publisher in many media. The collection documents his research and writing through articles, notes and correspondence, and also includes rare history and humanities periodicals. A rare photograph of Franklin D. Roosevelt was also found in the collection.

The collection was donated by Rosenzweig’s wife, Deborah Kaplan, Mason professor of English.
