On Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., the Mason Alert system will send out a test message. If you have signed up to receive alerts and do not receive the test message, go to alert.gmu.edu to check your settings.
Mason Alert is an information system designed to give students, faculty and staff immediate access to emergency announcements, notifications and updates during times of a campus or area crisis.
Registered individuals receive messages at their e-mail addresses or on their cell phones, text pagers, BlackBerrys or wireless PDAs. Registration is free and open indefinitely. Those registering for the service automatically receive all university-wide emergency notifications, but may choose which other alerts they want to receive.
New users can go to the web site or text the keyword “Mason” to 411911 on their cell phone.
