Senior Vice President Scherrens to Speak at Staff Senate Meeting

Morrie Scherrens, senior vice president, will be the special guest at the Staff Senate meeting on Tuesday, March 24, to discuss current budget issues and what effect they may have on staff members.

Lynn Patron’s ‘Vignettes of Life’ Exhibit Opens

Mason’s Art and Visual Technology Department announces the opening of “Vignettes of Life,” an exhibition by painter and sculptor Lynn Patron. The exhibition of oil paintings will be on display in the Mason Hall Alumni Atrium Gallery on the Fairfax Campus through March 27.

Staff Senate Issues Call for New Senators

The Staff Senate is calling for nominations to fill open seats in the 2009 general election. There are nine seats open in Fairfax, two in Prince William and one at-large seat to represent all employees who do not work at Fairfax, Arlington or Prince William.

Mason Chess held onto its title as champion for the fourth year at the 2009 Virginia State Scholastic and Collegiate Chess Tournament held March 13-15. Freelance photographer Sarah Day knows a thing or two about persistence. When she first learned of a photo competition sponsored by the Global Health Council in 2008, the deadline for that year’s competition had already passed. But she decided to submit a photo she had taken during a trip to Southern Sudan anyway.

Men’s Basketball Falls to Penn State in Overtime

The Mason men’s basketball fell to the Penn State Nittany Lions, 77-73, in an exciting overtime game in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on Tuesday.
