Norwood, Thomas, Campbell Earn Basketball Honors

Mason senior Gabe Norwood was awarded the Colonial Athletic Association’s (CAA) most prestigious honor on Thursday night when he received the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, becoming the third Patriot to earn the honor.

In the morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 17, Mercer Library on Mason’s Prince William Campus quietly celebrated as the gate counter clicked to signify the one-millionth visitor to the library in just under a decade.

Mason Joins in Jamestown’s 400th Anniversary Commemoration

There are dozens, even hundreds, of events across the state this year that will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Va.

Although Mason is about 150 miles north of Jamestown, the university will be joining in wholeheartedly to mark this year of commemorations.

The George Mason men’s basketball team used a 21-4 run at the end of the first half to take a commanding lead and held off several Hofstra second-half runs as the Patriots defeated the Pride in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, 64-61.

Dre Smith made his first seven three-pointers on Friday night en route to a career-high 26 points, and the Patriots made 10 of 19 from three-point range as the George Mason men’s basketball team defeated James Madison 73-62 in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

Will Thomas Selected to NABC Second-Team All-District

On the eve of the Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament, Mason junior forward Will Thomas was named Second-Team All-District 4 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, making him eligible for All-America Honors.
