June 1—Anita Taylor, professor emerita of communication, presented “Tales of the Grandmothers: Women and Work” to the Regency Women’s Club in Haymarket.
June 2—David Anderson, director of the Center for the Advancement of Public Health in the School of Recreation, Health and Tourism, participated in a press conference called by the Safe Community Coalition. He spoke on “The Impact of Underage Drinking and Brain Development.”

This summer, George Mason student Seth Atterholt is studying Arabic in the Middle East as a result of winning a scholarship from the U.S. Department of State/Council of American Overseas Research.
Atterholt was one of three Mason students selected for a scholarship under the program. There were more than 1,200 applicants for the scholarships, and 30 were awarded.

George Mason’s women’s lacrosse team was honored Tuesday for its hard work in the classroom, earning designation by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association as a Division I Honor Squad.
