Hip-Hop Artist Rennie Harris Presents Facing Mekka at Center for the Arts

The kinetic energy of hip-hop street dance moves to the stage when Rennie Harris Puremovement performs the Washington, D.C.-area premiere of Facing Mekka at the Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 7, at 8 p.m. For Rennie Harris, a pioneering artist who has made it his life’s work to challenge assumptions about hip-hop, his new work celebrates the liberating power of dance and takes audiences on a spiritual pilgrimage back to the very roots of hip-hop.

CEIE Seminar Looks at Funding Transportation

The Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering Department (CEIE) will hold a seminar tomorrow featuring Thomas M. Downs, president and CEO of the Eno Transportation Foundation, addressing “Funding Surface Transportation: Is This the End of the Road?” The seminar will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. in Enterprise Hall, Room 173.

Provost to Hold Brown Bag Lunch Meeting at Prince William Campus

Provost Peter Stearns will be having a brown bag lunch meeting with the faculty at the Prince William Campus tomorrow, May 3, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Occoquan Building, Room 110-L. At that time, he will answer questions or address concerns about issues and policies.

Elizabeth “Libby” Thompson, financial manager, Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR), is May’s Employee of the Month. For the past three years, Thompson has represented ICAR on the Peer Mediation Annual Conference steering committee, organized with Fairfax County Public Schools.
