Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center Named Business of the Year

The Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center at the Prince William Campus has been named the 2003-04 Business of the Year by the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce. The center took top honors in the category for chamber members with 16 or more employees.

Patriots Baseball Gets NCAA Tournament Bid; Track and Field Members Qualify for Championships

The George Mason baseball team’s outstanding overall season earned them an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament that begins Friday, June 4, even though the team went cold at the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournament last week.

Graduating Seniors More Satisfied than Before

The Graduating Senior Survey (GSS) Report for the 2002-03 academic year shows an increase in the percentage of graduating seniors who were satisfied or very satisfied with their overall experience at the university, moving from 89 percent in 2002 to 94 percent in 2003. Of the 3,207 graduating seniors, 2,946 completed the GSS, a 92 percent response rate, the highest in university history.

SOM Inducts Students in International Honor Society

The School of Management (SOM) inducted 131 students into Beta Gamma Sigma, a business school honor society that recognizes exceptional academic performance, at its annual awards ceremony on May 14.

TFA’s Hoffmann Is June Employee of the Month

Kira Hoffmann, company manager for Theater of the First Amendment (TFA), is Employee of the Month for June. At TFA, George Mason’s professional theater company, Hoffman handles the administrative functions necessary to produce the plays—from hiring and paying professional actors, designers, and laborers, to purchasing and tracking expenditures for scenery and costume materials for each production.
