The George Mason men’s basketball team won its last four games, and one of the key players in Mason’s first winning streak of the season was honored for his on-court performance. Junior Jordan Carter was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week. It’s the first time Carter has earned the award.
The guard from Indianapolis averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 3.0 steals. He set a career high with 11 points against UNC Wilmington, a figure he matched later in the week against James Madison University. He also set career highs with seven rebounds and eight assists at Towson University. During one stretch, Carter made 10 straight shots from the field, and he finished the week shooting 76.5 percent from the floor.
Carter joins fellow Patriot and junior Will Thomas as the only members of the team to win the award this year. Freshman Louis Birdsong previously won the Rookie of the Week award. Carter shared the honor with Eric Maynor of Virginia Commonwealth University. The Rams were also 3-0 last week.
