Once again, the Staff Senate, in conjunction with George Mason’s Holiday Party on Dec. 14, will sponsor the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots, as well as a food drive for New Hope Housing Inc.
According to Sharon Littley, Staff Senate Toys for Tots chair, donated toys should be new and unwrapped for a girl or boy. Canned or boxed food items will be accepted. Staff Senate “Santas” will gladly accept toys and/or food donations in the cinema lobby in the Johnson Center during the party from 3 to 5 p.m.
Toys for Tots is a 59-year tradition of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. In 2005, Toys for Tots delivered more than 18.5 million toys to more than 7.4 million children. With more than 13 million children living in poverty, Toys for Tots needs help more than ever to achieve the goal of delivering a toy to every child in need.
