A special segment of MSNBC’s news-talk program “Hardball,” hosted by Chris Matthews, is being taped at Mason’s Fairfax Campus on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro is the principal guest. He will discuss his latest movie, “The Good Shepherd,” a drama that revolves around the beginning days of the Central Intelligence Agency. Matt Damon, who also stars in the film, will participate as well.
The taping is open to all – staff, faculty, students and members of the community – and admission is free. General admission seating begins at 12:30 p.m. Concert Hall doors will close at 1:15 p.m., and there will be no late seating.
To help generate interest in this segment and in the movie itself, the university and the film’s producers have arranged several free screenings of “The Good Shepherd” in the Johnson Center Cinema. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and 2:30 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Audience members for the taping of “Hardball” are strongly encouraged to first see the film. Those who attend a screening will receive priority seating at the taping and be eligible to participate in a question-and-answer session.
