Board of Visitors Approves Change in Departmental Status, New Degrees
December 8, 2006
At its meeting this week, Mason's Board of Visitors (BOV) approved two new degree programs and established a Department of Administration of Justice in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The degrees approved by the BOV are:
- BS in Computational and Data Science
- Professional Science Master's (PSM) in Bioinformatics Management
The new Department of Administration of Justice (ADJ) will be composed of the faculty and staff of the ADJ program currently housed within the department of Public and International Affairs (PIA).
The department will offer such academic programs as a minor in Administration of Justice, a BS in Administration of Justice and an MA and PhD in Justice, Law and Crime Policy.
Administrators say the ADJ Program has “reached a maturity and a size where it can govern itself.” Moreover, they deem the uniqueness in the program’s field of study and focus on justice practice merits a department outside of PIA.
