Men’s Basketball: The Patriots (3-3) struggled to find an offensive rhythm early and the were unable to rally from a 16-point first-half deficit against Bucknell University, falling 60-57 in the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center on Sunday.
Top scorers: junior guard/forward Folarin Campbell, 20 points; sophomore guard Dre Smith, 11 points; junior forward Will Thomas, 8 points; sophomore guard John Vaughan, 6 points. Next games: at Radford University on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.; at Duke University on Dec. 9 at noon.
Women’s Basketball:The Patriots (2-2) captured a 61-44 win over Siena College at the Patriot Center Saturday afternoon. Mason scored seven three-pointers.
Top scorer: junior forward Moni Akintunde, with 17 points. Top rebounder: sophomore center Jessica Smith, with 10. Next game: Northeastern University in Boston tonight at 7 p.m. for their first Colonial Athletic Association game of the 2006-07 season.
Wrestling: George Mason wrestling concluded the two-day Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational tournament on Saturday with 32.5 team points, good for a 26th-place finish.
Redshirt junior Harry Zander placed at the prestigious tournament, finishing fourth at 197 pounds. Mason wrestles again Dec. 8, taking on Old Dominion University in a Colonial Athletic Association dual meet at 7 p.m. in Norfolk.
