George Mason men’s basketball games this season will be broadcast on Red Zebra Broadcasting’s flagship Triple X ESPN Radio (730 AM, 92.7 FM and 94.3 FM).
The station will carry all 29 regular-season games, the Patriots games in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament and any postseason games, including games played in the NCAA and NIT tournaments.
“This significantly enhances the basketball team’s exposure and will enable our fans a better opportunity to follow the Patriots,” says Mason athletic director Tom O’Connor.
Triple X ESPN Radio, broadcast home of the Washington Redskins, hit the airways last July. The station has ESPN national programming and personalities, including Mike and Mike in the Morning, Colin Cowherd and Dan Patrick. They cover the local sports scene and offer sports updates and former Redskin John Riggins’ afternoon show.
Mason basketball fans will have the opportunity to listen to weekly interviews with head coach Jim Larranaga on “The John Riggins Show” throughout the Patriots season.
United Bank, a longtime supporter of the university, has signed on to be the official sponsor of the radio broadcast.
Bill Rohland will be the voice of the Patriots for the second straight season, his eighth overall with the program, having served as color analyst for six seasons. Ric Wilson, a former standout for the Patriots, will handle color commentary in his first season on air with Mason.
In addition, the complete George Mason broadcast inventory of basketball games also will be available on the Internet at the official web site of George Mason athletics, GoMason.com.
