The School of Nursing hosted a “baby shower” on Monday to celebrate the arrival of SimBaby, a $30,000 “patient” that joins three full-sized, computer-controlled human simulators in the Toups Nursing Clinical Simulation Laboratories. The SimBaby was purchased with private donations to the Toups Lab Fund at the George Mason University Foundation. Guests were encouraged to bring gifts for newborns, which will be distributed to a local women’s shelter, and to participate in a SimBaby Name Contest. Entries, suitable for a boy or girl, should be sent via e-mail to Florence Smoczynski.
