October 16, 2006Print-Friendly Version

The Office of the Provost will hold a forum today on the Fairfax Campus regarding the State of Mason Academics. The forum will provide an opportunity for exchange and questions between Provost Peter Stearns, relevant members of his staff and the university community. The forum will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema.

Initial remarks at this forum will focus on accountability and student learning outcomes; initiatives in Loudoun County, Ras Al Khaimah and with the Smithsonian; budget and budget prospects; and George Mason as a great university (a recent Board of Visitors topic).

Discussion can range over these topics and any others brought by the audience. Questions and comments will be welcome, in what is intended as a lively, mutually instructive exchange. Light refreshments will be served.

Other forums will be held as follows:

  • Arlington Campus – Tuesday, Oct. 24, 10 to 11 a.m., Original Building, Room 244

  • Prince William Campus – Friday, Nov. 3, 10 to 11 a.m., Verizon Auditorium
