The Office of the Registrar has announced that the date for students to file their intent to graduate has been moved up to the semester prior to graduation. Therefore, the intent filing deadline for the January 2007 and May 2007 graduation dates is October 20, 2006.

The change was made by the Registrar’s Office to provide Mason graduates with the best service possible. With the date for intent filing moved up, academic advisors will have more time to review graduation applications, notify students if there are any problems and give students more time to resolve these problems in order to graduate on time. It will also allow the Registrar’s Office to officially award degrees and mail diplomas more efficiently.

Students can feel more relaxed and assured during their final semester because there will be fewer surprises about unmet degree requirements. The goal of this earlier review is to have a greater percentage of filers actually graduate, says the Registrar’s Office.

Information about the new graduation filing deadlines, along with detailed information about the various stages of the degree conferral process, is posted on the updated web site.
