A review of George Mason’s academic achievements over the past 10 years will be given by Provost Peter Stearns at the fall convocation, set for Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall on the Fairfax Campus.
Stearns will identify academic changes and adjustments that have occurred at Mason since 1996, the year Alan Merten began his presidency.
In addition, Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens will review how the university has changed physically in terms of size and appearance since 1996.
The primary purpose of the convocation, which is open to the entire campus community, is to celebrate the university’s successes and to recognize President and Mrs. Merten’s 10th anniversary at the university.
