Mason freshman soccer goalkeeper Sean Kelley, marketing major, earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Brine Co-Rookie of the Week honors for his efforts this past weekend at the Yale Classic.
Kelley shares the honor with Pedro Pereira of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
Kelley collected two shutouts on the weekend at the Yale Classic to put his career total to three after just five starts. He tallied six saves in Mason’s 1-0 overtime win against Yale University on Sept. 8 and one in the Patriots’ 1-0 victory over Dartmouth University two days later. After posting a goals against average of 0.00 on the weekend to help lead Mason to the Yale Classic title, Kelley was named tournament MVP.
This marks the second time this year in which a Patriot has earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors: Freshman Richard Edgar earned the honor on Aug. 28.
