Aug. 21—Doris Bitler, associate dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, presented “Orchids for Everyone” at the Madison Senior Center in Arlington.
Aug. 24—Fred Schack, School of Recreation, Health and Tourism, presented “Exercise, Nutrition and Environmental Effects on Disease and Aging” at the Jewish Community Center in Alexandria.
Aug. 25—Fred Schack, School of Recreation, Health and Tourism, presented “Exercise and Chronic Disease” to Tall Oaks at Reston.
Aug. 28—Betsy Demulder, College of Education and Human Development, spoke to the staff at Wakefield School in The Plains on “Teacher Professional Development.”
Aug. 29—Peter Stearns, provost, spoke at the Langston- Brown Senior Center in Arlington on “Why Are Americans Getting Fatter?”
Aug. 31—Mike Summers, College of Science, presented “Mars and Astrobiology” to the middle and high school teachers of Fairfax County.
