Activities Planned for New Student Days

The first of 4,000 resident students will move into the Fairfax Campus residence halls beginning Thursday, Aug. 24. To give them a break from unpacking and settling in, a variety of social activities are planned.

Although the free events during New Student Days are primarily for resident students, all Mason students are welcome to participate.

Thursday, Aug. 24

  • Barbecue, President’s Park, 5 to 7 p.m.

  • “Scary Movie 4,” outdoors, President’s Park, 9 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 25

  • Dinner, Student Union Building II, Ciao Hall, 5 to 7 p.m.

  • Men’s Soccer Game, Field House, 7 p.m.

  • The Ultimate Road Trip: Campus2Career sponsored by, Johnson Center Cinema, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

  • DJ Deck Party, top of Mason Pond Parking Deck, 9 to 11 p.m.

  • “Poseidon,” Johnson Center Cinema, 10 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 26

  • Harlan Cohen presents, “The Naked Roommate,” a presentation based on his book about many of the experiences faced during the first year of college, Harris Theater, 5 to 9 p.m.

  • Get Your Game On! Student Union Building I Game Room, 8 to 11 p.m.

  • “Poseidon,” Johnson Center Cinema, 10 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 27

  • Mason Challenge! President’s Park, 1 to 3 p.m.

  • Women’s Soccer Game, Field House, 2 p.m.

  • Ice Cream Social, DUCC Area, 3 to 5 p.m.

  • Movie TBA, Johnson Center Cinema, 8 p.m.

New Student Days are sponsored by Student Activities, University Life, Program Board, Athletics, Alumni Affairs, the Freshman Center, and Office of Orientation and Family Programs and Services.
