City of Fairfax Begins Street Change Aug. 4

During a two-day period beginning Aug. 4, the City of Fairfax will permanently change North Street and Main Street in Old Town Fairfax to two-way streets.
At 8 p.m. on Aug. 4, North Street will close and Main Street will accommodate both eastbound and westbound traffic. University Drive will be closed between Whitehead Street and North Street and at Sager Avenue.
In the evening of Aug. 5, North Street is expected to open to two-way traffic. Main Street then will be closed, and University Drive will be closed at Main Street.
By 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, all roads in Old Town Fairfax will be open to two-way traffic. Police will be on hand to help guide drivers and pedestrians.
During these closures, Old Town Fairfax businesses and services are expected to keep their regular hours, and public parking lots will be open for use. For a map showing street closures and a list of parking options in Old Town Fairfax, visit the city’s web site or call 703-385-7872.
