Gov. Timothy Kaine has appointed Mason alumna Lovey Hammel, BS Business Administration ’88, to the Virginia Workforce Council.
Hammel is president and cofounder of Employment Enterprises Inc., and its sister companies, Checks and Balances Inc. and Temporary Solutions Inc. She is a former chair of the George Mason University Foundation Board of Trustees – the first alumnus to hold that position. She also served on the committee for the $142 million Campaign for George Mason University and was an Alumnus of the Year.
The Virginia Workforce Council is a business-led board that acts as the principal advisor to the governor and provides strategic leadership to the state regarding the workforce development system and its efforts to create a strong workforce aligned with employer needs.
“Companies are challenged to attract candidates with the right skills and experience level for their workforce needs,” says Hammel. “Our job is to work with our clients and employees to find the staffing and training solutions to these critical issues.”
Employment Enterprises Inc., was established 26 years ago in Northern Virginia and has been recognized with numerous awards. It was named the seventh largest women-owned company in the Washington, D.C., area by the Washington Business Journal and was listed four times on Inc. Magazine’s list of 500 fastest growing privately held companies in the United States.
