Four Patriots Earn All-CAA Honors in Women’s Lacrosse

The Colonial Athletic Association announced its All-CAA and All-Rookie Teams for women’s lacrosse as selected by a vote of the league’s coaches. Four George Mason athletes received recognition for their outstanding play this season.
Senior defender Michele Brady, junior midfielder Melissa Curry and sophomore attacker Laura King all earned Second-Team All-CAA honors. Freshman attacker Brittany Berger made the CAA All-Rookie Team.
Brady closes out her career at George Mason with her third consecutive selection to the All-CAA team. The anchor of Mason’s defensive unit, Brady started 15 games during the 2006 campaign, ranking third on the team with 19 caused turnovers and fourth with 32 ground balls. She ranks fourth all-time at Mason in caused turnovers with 95 in her career.
An outstanding all-around player, Curry was named to the first All-CAA team of her career after ranking fourth in the conference in ground balls per game with an average of 3.07 per contest and third in free-position goals per game with an average of 0.60 per game.
A CAA All-Rookie and All-Tournament Team selection last season, King led the Patriot attack during her sophomore season with a team-high 48 goals and 56 points. She tied for first in the CAA in game-winning goals, was third in the conference in goals per game with an average of three per contest and tied for eighth in points per game with an average of 3.50 per game.
Berger started 15 games during her first season with the Patriots and immediately made an impact, scoring 17 goals and adding 10 assists for 27 points. She ranked second on the team in assists and third in goals and points. The freshman earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors on April 4.
The team finished up its 2006 season with a 7-9 overall record.
