George Mason freshman Ali Bryan earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Pitcher of the Week honors for Mason softball as a result of her performance last week.
Bryan collected two wins on the week. She was on the mound all seven innings in Mason’s 1-0 win over Norfolk State University on April 26, and she also pitched the entire game against University of North Carolina-Wilmington to help lead the Patriots to a 1-0 victory on April 29.
Bryan shares the honor with Elizabeth Hyman of Georgia State University.
George Mason senior baseball pitcher Brent Hitz allowed one run on just two hits over eight innings against the Hofstra University Pride on Saturday. The effort helped Mason to a 5-2 win. The CAA recognized his performance by naming him Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Hitz retired the first six batters of the game before allowing a solo homer to lead off the third. After that, he faced 19 batters over the next six innings, striking out four and walking one. The performance helped Mason to its second sweep of the year, as the Patriots downed Hofstra 10-2 on Friday and 5-3 on Sunday.
Hitz shares the weekly honor with John Leonard of Virginia Commonwealth University. This is the first time Hitz has won a weekly CAA award.
