President Alan Merten has announced new assignments for Stanley Taylor, formerly vice president of the Arlington Campus, and Larry Czarda, formerly vice president of the Prince William Campus, related to the distributed university.

Taylor’s title has been changed to vice president for metropolitan relations, with enhanced responsibility for developing community contacts and institutional opportunities in Arlington, Alexandria and Washington D.C.; he reports to Provost Peter Stearns.

Czarda’s title has been changed to vice president for regional campuses, with responsibility for administrative and operational oversight in Prince William, Arlington, Loudoun, and as relevant in other sites such as Belmont Bay and Front Royal; he will report jointly to Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens and the provost.

These changes are effective immediately and are intended to further the university’s growing presence in the Greater Washington, D.C., area and provide improved coordination in the distributed campus system, according to Merten.
