Tisdell Heads to NCAA Wrestling Championships

Redshirt freshman Tyler Tisdell was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Rookie of the Week for his performance at the CAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia on March 3 and 4. Tisdell, a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week Award winner, shares the honor with Rider's Doug Umbehauer.

Tisdell placed runner-up at the CAA Championships at the 165-pound weight class. He won a major decision in the quarterfinals and upset the no. 2 seed in the semifinals before losing to the top seed in the finals by a score of 3-2.

He will now compete in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, scheduled for March 16-18 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Tisdell heads into the NCAA Championships with a 28-8 record on the season, with three falls, one technical fall and nine major decisions.
