George Mason’s Loudoun site will be expanding operations beginning in late March. The site is currently 8,000 square feet and will be expanded to 20,000 square feet by late August, according to Sondra Patrick, director of Loudoun operations.
“We definitely want to have everything ready by fall of 2006,” says Patrick. “The expansion should provide us with six additional classrooms, a student lab that will hold about 35 people and 35 computers and two additional seminar rooms that will seat 8 to 12.”
Patrick says the expansion might include a Jazzman’s Café and a vendateria – a vendor cart that provides students with limited food and beverage options.
Mason in Loudoun began offering classes last August. The facility is located on the second floor of the Ridgetop Two building near the Dulles Town Center.
Classes at Loudoun are focused on business management, education and information technology.
One of the attractions of the site is accessible parking. Patrick says, “The parking here is free and plentiful. We are in a big office complex. In the late evening, workers [sharing the office complex] are gone.”
Current plans call for the Loudoun operations to be housed at Ridgetop Two until 2010 when they will be moved to a permanent location in Loudoun.
