Aviation Summit to Ponder Challenges, Opportunities

George Mason’s Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) will host a free, day-long aviation industry symposium, bringing together aviation professionals and decision makers in government, industry and academia on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The event will focus on sharing information and providing an intellectual exchange of ideas to address challenges and opportunities faced by the industry.

Agenda items for the summit, “Sustainability of the Air Transportation System: Challenges and Opportunities,” include:

  • The future of airports

  • Air transportation system model: Challenges and opportunities

  • Analysis of airport system operations: Case studies of LaGuardia and Dulles

  • Privatization of air traffic control: Challenges and opportunities

The symposium is a partnership between IT&E’s Center for Air Transportation Systems Research and Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research.
