To help current George Mason students and alumni acquire valuable job search skills before the start of the spring semester, Career Services is offering “January Jumpstart” today, Jan. 19, in Student Union Building I, Room 348.

No prior registration is required. The workshops begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

Topics to be covered include how to write resumes and cover letters, how to market your particular skills and work experiences to potential employers, how to find the right job or internship, how to navigate and use PatriotJOBWeb and interviewing strategies.

One workshop, “How to Find a Job or Internship,” will feature Roger Campbell, a former employee of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Another, “Interviewing Strategies,” will include Ralph Lattanzio, a former employee of ExxonMobil and currently the employer-in-residence at Career Services.

Upcoming events hosted by Career Services include the International Careers Panel; an Interview Prep and Practice event on Feb. 24; Education Recruitment Day on March 1; employer resume clinics on March 9 and 20; and the annual Internship/Job Fair on March 21 and 22. In April, Career Services will for the first time offer a two-part workshop on graduate school issues.
