![]() The Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study hosted a “groundbreaking” on Wednesday for a 12,500-square-foot addition to the building. Above, from left, are Virginia Pomata, a member of the Krasnow Advisory Board; Virginia Cong. Tom Davis; President Alan Merten; and Krasnow Director James Olds. Olds said the addition will allow the Institute to hire leading scientists who will study the basic questions of neuroscience and the causes and potential cures for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. Research will also focus on studying the human brain in order to build better machines and computers. Krasnow’s recent purchase of an MRI brain scanner will facilitate this work and is expected to be installed in late April. Creative Services photo |
