George Mason University senior defender Anthony Noreiga, a business major, tallied another honor as he was named to the 2005 All-South Atlantic First Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Noreiga is one of 12 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) men’s soccer players selected to a pair of All-Region teams.
This marks Noreiga’s first postseason conference honor in his three-year career at Mason. Noreiga was named the 2005 CAA Defender of the Year after he anchored a Patriot defense that recorded five shutouts during the season, including four in conference play.
A three-year starter, Noreiga scored his fourth career goal and his lone goal of the 2005 campaign in Mason’s season-opening 3-2 win at Liberty University. A member of the U23 Trinidadian National Team, Noreiga was named to the adidas/Brown Classic All-Tournament Team in September.
In addition, Noreiga has been invited to participate in the Major League Soccer Player Combine from Jan. 12 to 15 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
