Technology Workshops for Faculty and Staff Begin Jan. 17

BYTE (Build Your Technology and Teaching Expertise) Week for faculty and staff begins on Tuesday, Jan. 17, on the Fairfax Campus, with a variety of workshops on applications and tech concepts to enhance teaching and make office work more efficient. Everything is free.

A new workshop, “Podcasting: An Exciting New Technology for Higher Education,” will be presented on Friday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 3 p.m. in Innovation Hall, Room 427.

Some other topics are: “Fair Use and Media in Higher Ed,” “Streaming Video Overview,” “Overview of Web-based Personal Productivity and Collaboration Tools,” and “Intro to Visual Comunication: Streaming, Webconferencing and Videoconferencing.” There are 46 workshops in all to choose from.

The Information Technology Unit Training Council is offering the following four workshop tracks for which faculty and staff can earn certificates of completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs): Planning and Creating a Web Site; Teaching with Online Tools; Microsoft Office Fundamentals; and Graphic Creation, Manipulation and Animation.
