The annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) is still in progress, although Mason is still short of its participation goal of 100 donors. The theme of this year’s effort is “Let Us All Lend a Helping Hand.”
“Any contribution, large or small, is welcome and important to the future of many agencies that provide services throughout the area,” President Alan Merten wrote in an e-mail to all Mason employees at the beginning of the campaign.
CVC is the annual workplace giving campaign for state workers. Employees can support a wide range of community programs and nonprofit organizations through tax-deductible donations. Employees may designate their contribution to up to four of more than 1,300 organizations, including various local chapters of the YMCA, Meals on Wheels, Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals and Boys & Girls Club. Donations may be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card.
Enrollment forms and a list of charitable organizations have been distributed via campus mail. Information also can be found online.
Amath Gomis, office manager and file room supervisor for Human Resources/Payroll, is Mason’s CVC liaison. “Even if you can only give a dollar,” Gomis says, “that dollar will help.”
The CVC campaign ends Dec. 23. For more information, contact Gomis at email@example.com.
