Mason researchers were honored Wednesday at “A Celebration of Achievements” reception in the Center for the Arts. Along with posters describing undergraduate research projects, each school and college in the university had a display showcasing their faculty research. Matt Kluger, vice president for research, commented on “the extremely collaborative scholarship that goes on here. We create the environment that makes researchers want to be at this university.” Provost Peter Stearns said, “We want to express our gratitude and pride in our faculty and student research achievements,” adding, “This celebration attests to the range of things we do and the range of researchers we have—undergraduates to senior researchers. It also demonstrates the breadth of research disciplines.” Above, students Devon Ward-Thommes and Young Cho, a biology major who received an Undergraduate Apprenticeship award, stand with a poster about Cho’s research. Cho’s advisor is Monique van Hoek, assistant professor, Molecular and Microbiology.
