Web Portal Pilot Set to Debut in February

In February, the first pilot version of the new myMason Web Portal, an information gateway for George Mason students, will debut to a target test audience of several on-campus student residents and graduate students.
The new portal allows students to personalize and customize Mason web content and provides them with a single sign-on to other university internal systems including Banner, university e-mail and Resident Management Service.
“Many contributors from different aspects of the campus have stepped up to the plate to make this happen,” says Kirsten DeLashmutt, manager of portal and web development in the Information Technology Unit.
The first pilot of the myMason Web Portal will run through the spring 2006 semester and will be carefully monitored by Rose Pascarell, associate dean of University Life, and Kara Danner, a staff member in University Life. The personal experiences and suggestions from the target test audience will be collected and used to evaluate the success of the myMason Portal. If the pilot’s run is deemed a success, a full version of myMason will be unveiled in fall 2006.
