The flu vaccine will be administered by Student Health Services for students, faculty and staff beginning Friday, Oct. 21, for high-risk populations. As of Monday, Oct. 24, flu vaccines will be available as long as supplies last for all others on campus who want them.
To ensure that those who are at highest risk of complications from influenza have access to vaccine this season, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that people in certain high-risk groups receive the flu shot before Oct. 24. Those in the high-risk category are people age 65 years and older, with and without chronic health conditions; residents of long-term care facilities; people age 2-64 years with chronic health conditions; children age 6-23 months; pregnant women; health-care personnel who provide direct patient care; and household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age.
The cost is $20 for students and $25 for faculty and staff; cash or check only (no credit cards are accepted). Shots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You are asked to wear short sleeves.
