Gheorghe Tecuci, professor of computer science, is the 2005 winner of the School of Information Technology and Engineering’s (IT&E) Outstanding Research Faculty Award. He presented a lecture titled “From Personal Computers to Learning Assistants” on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Fairfax Campus.

Tecuci is director of the Learning Agents Center in IT&E. He has published more than 150 papers, most of them dealing with artificial intelligence. Tecuci’s research focuses on creating and applying a general theory of how noncomputer scientists can develop their own software assistants.
