Posted: September 12, 2005 at 1:00 am, Last Updated: November 30, -0001 at 12:00 am
Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, and continuing until Thursday, Sept. 15, employees from the Department of Human Resources and Payroll will staff a kiosk on the main level of the Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus from 9 to 11 a.m. each day to accept monetary donations for residents of the Gulf Coast states devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Mason’s effort is part of the drive coordinated by the Combined Virginia Campaign (CVC), the workplace giving campaign for employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The kiosk location Monday and Thursday is Kiosk Counter B. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the location is Kiosk Counter C.
Checks should be made out to “CVC—Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.” Cash will also be accepted. All donations are tax deductible.
The CVC will distribute 100 percent of the contributions equally between the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. This effort is separate from the annual CVC campaign, which begins Oct. 1.
