The Staff Senate will hold its monthly meeting today from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Science and Technology I, Room 110, on the Fairfax Campus. The meeting will be teleconferenced to the Occoquan Building, Room 221, on the Prince William Campus, and the Original Building, Room 335, on the Arlington Campus. All meetings are open to the general public.

The Arlington County Fair begins today at 6:15 p.m. and continues through Sunday, Aug. 21. Held at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 S. 2nd Street in Arlington, the fair is a lively annual event featuring community information, carnival rides, exhibits and food. George Mason will participate with an informational booth. For more information, see the web site.

All are invited to attend a farewell open house in honor of Pam Scott, Patriot Computers’ “questions, answers and orders guru.” Scott’s husband is being transferred, and the family is relocating to Memphis. Stop by on Monday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at Patriot Computers in the Johnson Center, Room 115, to wish her the best of luck in her new venture.

Once again, the College of Visual and Performing Arts is sponsoring a back-to-school school supply collection program. All supplies will benefit Fairfax County elementary school children whose families cannot afford basic school supplies. The Mason group that collects the most supplies wins a gift basket of snacks. The contest ends Sept. 1. For more information, contact Lori Petterson at or 703-993-8887.
