As of Monday, Aug. 1, several parking lots and portions of others will be closed permanently to make room for construction of Housing VII in the northeast sector of the Fairfax Campus.
Lot T (metered spaces near the Commons residence halls) and Lot Q (near Commonwealth Hall) will close permanently. The first bay in Lot G closest to George Mason Boulevard will close, as will about half of Lot E nearest Commonwealth Hall. During construction, access to Chesapeake River Way will be controlled by the construction company.
In addition, the gravel parking spaces in front of Mason Hall and the Concert Hall will be closed on Monday for paving with asphalt. The spaces will reopen by Monday, Aug. 15.
An alternative to surface parking is a reserved space in one of the parking decks, where rates were reduced to $325 annually (plus a $25 access key deposit).
Also, as of Monday, riders with a George Mason ID can ride the CUE bus for free.
