As of July 1, a new Office of Research Subject Protections (ORSP) will report to Matthew Kluger, vice president for research.
The new office will be responsible for all aspects of oversight and implementation of federal and state laws and regulations, and institutional policies governing the review and approval of research involving human subjects and the use and care of vertebrate animals in research and instruction on all George Mason campuses. ORSP will provide administrative support to the Mason Human Subjects Review Board and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
Sandra Sanford, formerly assistant director for research compliance in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), will serve as director of ORSP. Sanford has had oversight of these responsibilities while working in OSP.
ORSP will remain with OSP in Patriot Square (and later in Research I). For more information, contact Sanford at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-993-4015.
