New Carpet Installation to Affect Johnson Center Library Stacks Area

Beginning today, new carpet will be installed in the library stacks areas of the Johnson Center. The library portion of the carpeting project will commence on the north end of the third floor with the boxing of the books in the call number range LC (Education) and continue across the top floor of the building in sections.
As the carpeting of each section is finished, the shelves and books will be returned to their proper positions. As the carpeting progresses, the process will be repeated in the second floor book stacks, again beginning at the north end with the call numbers in the LB range (the remainder of the Education collection) and continuing across the second floor. By proceeding in this manner, it is hoped that no portion of the book collection will be out of circulation for more than two to four weeks.
The carpet within the enclosed library area will not be replaced at this time; therefore, the reference, media, music reference, and musical scores collections will continue to be available at all times during the summer. Items will also be available through the Washington Research Library Consortium Loan Service or Interlibrary Loan. Contact either the Johnson Center Library Reference Desk (703-993-9070) or Dorothy Lockaby (703-993-4395) to check on availability of materials and for assistance with alternative means of obtaining needed items.
If you have questions related to course reserves, contact the Reserves Team or call 703-993-9043.
The installation is expected to be completed in the next four weeks.
