Approximately 100 personnel from local police, fire stations, emergency medical teams, sheriff’s offices, and health departments descended on the Patriot Center yesterday for a command post exercise simulating a major catastrophic event involving hundreds of injuries and fatalities. The event was organized by the Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management to test the interoperability and operating procedures of local community emergency units’ command centers. Representatives from the FBI, Red Cross, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives also participated, as did George Mason representatives.
