George Mason senior goalkeeper Meg Dentler, who is majoring in graphic design, was named the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year in women’s lacrosse by a vote of the league’s eight head coaches. Dentler is a 2004 All-American and is featured in the April 29 edition of Inside Lacrosse Magazine in an article titled “Center of Attention: Goalie Meg Dentler Gives George Mason the Chance to Play Spoiler.”
Dentler, the 2005 team captain, is the first George Mason women’s lacrosse player to garner conference Player of the Year honors. She and other teammates were recognized at a banquet held before the CAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship in April. Joining Dentler on the all-CAA first team were teammates Brandi Evans, a senior defensive midfielder, and Michele Brady, a junior defender.
Mason also boasts two second-team all-CAA selections in junior attacker Sarah Bryant and sophomore defender Katie Linnertz, and three members of the 2005 CAA All-Rookie team: freshmen attackers Christina Frank, Alex Velesz, and Laura King.
Mason lost to Towson University, 12-9, in the CAA Championship semifinals, finishing the season 7-10 overall.
