President Merten to Lead Spring Convocation Today

President Alan Merten’s spring convocation is set for today at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center’s Dewberry Hall. Faculty and staff are urged to attend.
Merten will discuss actions of Gov. Mark Warner and the Virginia General Assembly that relate to the university, including general support, increased flexibility, and salary increases. Merten will also elaborate on George Mason’s 2010 Plan.
Provost Peter Stearns will spotlight various faculty members and discuss the possible restructuring of academic units. Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens will talk about changes to expect in the business functions of the university.
