Those who have regularly been checking the special computer intrusion web site know that the investigation into the George Mason ID server break-in, which was identified last month, is continuing. To date, Protiviti, the company Mason hired to investigate the break-in, reports it has found no evidence that the ID card data file has been either entered or downloaded. The company hopes to complete its analysis by the end of February.
In the meantime, University Police are continuing their investigation of the break-in to establish who was responsible. The investigating officer has received a number of calls from the university community reporting possible problems, but none so far have been found to have any connection to the ID server break-in. The police are actively following up on several leads. Anyone who may have additional information should call Detective T.W. Bacigalupi at 703-993-2802 or the TIPS line at 703-993-4111.
