Combining the best of opera throughout Central Europe, Opera Verdi Europa traverses the globe performing grand operas in the finest tradition of the world’s great houses. In a performance filled with spectacle and color, Opera Verdi’s international cast will sing Bizet’s example of opéra-comique, Carmen. This tale, a showcase for Bizet’s flair for drama, musical characterization, brilliant orchestration, and “local color,” livens up a winter afternoon at the Center for the Arts on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m.
Opera Verdi Europa is a unique collaboration between Bulgarian opera theaters and symphonies, as well as with opera houses from Bucharest, Budapest, Moldovia, Ukraine, Russia, and many other regional companies.
