Shirley Travis, George Mason University’s new dean of the College of Nursing and Health Science, is now on board. Travis, whose appointment to the position was announced in June 2004, succeeds Carlos Sluzki and Jeanne Sorrell, who have been co-directing the college.
Travis was formerly D.W. Covard Distinguished Professor of Nursing at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. The new dean will head a college with an overall student enrollment of nearly 1,200 students.
“I am encouraged by the great spirit and sense of entrepreneurship here at the university,” says Travis, “and I am looking forward to working with the faculty and administration.”
