Harvard Professor to Explore Dreams on Dec. 15

J. Allan Hobson, professor of psychiatry at Harvard University, will be the featured speaker at the Mellinger Eminent Scholar Colloquium in Cognitive Sciences on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. in Mason Hall, Room D3. He will present “The Dreaming Brain: Searching for Mind-Body Integration.” The event is sponsored by the Psychology Department, and refreshments will follow the lecture. All are invited.
Hobson is one of the best-known active researchers on sleep. With hundreds of peer-reviewed articles, including dozens in journals such as Science, Nature, and the New England Journal of Medicine, Hobson is responsible for landmark advancements in experimental psychology, human and animal physiology, neurobiology, and modern cognitive philosophy. He received his MD from Harvard Medical School, where he is currently director of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology. His books include The Chemistry of Conscious States and The Dreaming Brain.
