Electronic Theater 2004, a festival of the best computer graphic animation of 2004, will be screened on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema on the Fairfax Campus. Pieces from the collection were selected by a distinguished panel of experts from the computer industry, and the exhibition was originally screened at the Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) 2004 Animation Show held in August at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Since August, the DVD from the show has been shown around the country by professional chapters of SIGGRAPH. It features segments from Shrek 2, Polar Express, Spider-Man 2 and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, among many others.
At this special showing, George Mason will host the Washington, D.C., chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides programs for people in the fields of computer graphics, animation, and interactive media. The event will provide an opportunity for students to meet with professionals and exchange information about multimedia and animation, as well as learn how they can submit their own work to venues at the SIGGRAPH 2005 Conference in Los Angeles.
Free popcorn and soda will be available. The showing of Electronic Theater 2004 is sponsored by Mason’s Electronic Publications and the Master of Arts Management Program, as well as DC_SIGGRAPH.
